October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Throughout the month the Domestic Violence Advocacy Program and Shelter of Family Resources, Inc. will be holding awareness events in both the Iowa and Illinois Quad Cities.

October highlights include the Purple Light Nights campaign in the Ben Butterworth Parkway pavilions in Moline and the lighting of the Sky Bridge in purple in Davenport. The purple lights represent honoring those who have lost their lives from domestic violence, supporting those who survived domestic violence and offering hope for those still living with violence.

The lights will be lit throughout the month of October. Citizens and businesses can show their support by displaying purple lights on their businesses and homes.
